Powderpuff Delivers a Night of Competition, Spirit, and Unforgettable Moments

Thursday night’s Powderpuff Football Game was one for the books, bringing together students, staff, and families for an evening full of energy, athleticism, and school spirit. From the opening whistle, the players demonstrated impressive skill and determination on the field. Big plays, strategic drives, and strong defensive stands highlighted the athletic ability of the teams and made it clear that everyone came ready to compete. Just as noticeable as the competition, however, was the positive spirit shared between players, with encouragement and good sportsmanship evident throughout the game.

Patriot Pride on Display at Special Education Track Meet

Liberty High School’s mod/severe special education students received an enthusiastic sendoff Thursday morning as they headed to the annual Special Education Track Meet hosted at Centennial High School. Students and staff lined the pathway cheering, waving posters and pom-poms, while the Liberty band played the school’s fight song. Smiles filled the campus as the athletes departed, surrounded by encouragement and Patriot Pride.

Liberty Seniors Compete in State Mock Trial Journalism Competition

Last weekend, Liberty High seniors Keen Nguyen and Robert “Bobby” Clegg traveled to Oakland to compete in the California State Mock Trial Competition. Both students qualified for the individual journalism event, where participants observe a trial round, take detailed notes, and write a news article based on the proceedings.

Liberty Theatre Featured on Kern High Network’s “In the Huddle”

berty High had the exciting opportunity this past week to be spotlighted on the Kern High Network. On Monday, March 16, 2026, our PLAY-triot Theatre Company (PTC) was interviewed as the second school ever to be featured on the expanded In the Huddle: Theatre Edition, a program formerly focused solely on athletics and now showcasing fine arts across the district.

Liberty’s music program continues to build on the momentum from an outstanding fall marching season, carrying that same energy, discipline, and commitment to excellence into the spring performance season. This past week and weekend highlighted that momentum as both the Liberty Drumline and Wind Ensemble earned impressive recognition at major events.

Liberty Makes History at County History Day

Liberty High is celebrating an exciting milestone as Cambria Azimian becomes the first Liberty student since 2017 to qualify for the State History Day Competition. At last weekend’s County History Day, Cambria placed in the Senior Individual Exhibit Category with her project titled “Beyond the Camp: Witold Pilecki’s Fight Against the Nazi Reign.” Her outstanding research and presentation earned her a spot at the State History Day Competition, a remarkable accomplishment.

Liberty Robotics Teams Shine at State, Team 11475B Qualifies for Worlds

This weekend, Liberty High School’s Robotics program competed at the VEX Robotics State Championship hosted at California State University, Bakersfield. After a season of designing, building, coding, and testing their robots, three Liberty teams qualified to compete at the state level against some of the top robotics programs in California.
Representing Liberty were teams 11475B, 11475C, and 11475D. Each team demonstrated impressive engineering, teamwork, and strategic thinking throughout the competition.

CAML Competition Concludes with an Exciting Finish

The final CAML (Continental American Mathematics League) test of the year took place this past week, bringing an exciting conclusion to a season of friendly competition and mathematical challenge. Throughout the year, dozens of students stepped up to test their problem-solving skills in a fun and engaging environment, demonstrating that a love for mathematics can thrive even during a lunch break.
A huge thank you goes to our dedicated math department for organizing and hosting these competitions throughout the year. By giving up their lunches to run the CAML tests, they have created a meaningful opportunity for students to challenge themselves, grow their confidence, and celebrate academic competition.
